Voila'

Finally finished! Our new bathroom & laundry are complete and lovely to my eyes.
Here's a reminder of what it started as:

TA DA!
A broom closet is just inside to the right, not visible from this angle.

Thank you Timmy! My visions have come to fruition.

Starfish

The new caption photo was taken in Sitka this past weekend. We had so much fun at the beach. I have some more great photos I'll post some time.

Transportation

Dan and Ashleigh dropped by tonight. I love how Jack the dog gets to ride along too.
A few minutes later, Bryan came by with the boys. Can you imagine the smiles they got coming down the street?
Shortly after they got here, our friend and neighbor Eric stopped by with his boys. (The oldest one had his own bike). Another smile maker.
Well, I'm now the owner of two scooters. Although Mick will try to claim one of them, but he has his own bikes. Isn't this one sweet?

Boys will be boys...

Look at the toughest cowboy in Juneau!

(I think he needs a right handed holster.)

Check out the spurs! Latest addition to the cowboy look,
thanks to the community garage sale yesterday.

Felix thinks he's big enough to ride his brother's bike.

Enjoying Nathaniel's hammock.

...and girls will be girls.
My room often becomes Barbie Town when Luna is over.
I just LOVE grandchildren!

Janet, this Blog's for you...

Slacker, slacker, slacker; what more can I say!

So what's been going on in the past three months?
In May we had a one-day visit from the Colorado aunts, whom we love dearly. Aunt Edy and Aunt EttaMarie came up on a cruise and brought the best surprise; Mick & Brian's little sister Mindy was with them. It was such a great day for us Juneau-ites.

That's Mindy in the green coat with Dan and Ashleigh.
EttaMarie & Edy on the ship. (Don't know the lady in black.)

I'm currently beginning week 5 of a sinus infection. So fun! I truly hope I didn't share it with anyone at Tressa's wedding. And speaking of Tressa's wedding, Mick and I took a week and drove up to our niece's wedding in Delta Junction in June. Beautiful wedding, beautiful bride. (I must say, it makes no sense for the bride's family to sit on the side she stands on, as she is mostly looking at her groom and you can't see her face during the whole wedding. I think it's a tradition that should be changed).

We almost got into a major accident after just leaving Delta, but God's hand was on us. Left some good tire marks for a ways. Then we made it 11 hours down the road and only one hour from Haines when the transmission went out on the truck. Again, God's hand was on us, as it happened at the top of the last pass, so we coasted down past Canadian customs and through the US customs and stopped just 15 miles from DeAnna's parent's home. (38 miles from Haines and 4 hours until the ferry was to leave). DeAnna's grandfather towed us to his home and DeAnna's mom drove us to the ferry. Perfect timing. It could have happened anywhere along the long, lonely, middle-of-nowhere Alaska Highway. We are so appreciative of the help we received!
Saw lots of wildlife: bears, swans, moose. It really was a fun trip in spite of the above. Here are a few pix.
My favorite wedding pic of Tressa and Dan.

Cool old bikes in the woods. I actually rode the pink and white Schwinn, even with flat tires.

Last picture of the trip. I had to get this shot.

And here's a picture of the garden by my front door.

I so love the hostas on each side of the lupine. And the tiger lilies are always so marvelous.
Ta ta for now.
PS Happy birthday to my honey!

I've been targeted...

When I got to my car after work, this is what I found. I could become paranoid and think they're out to get me, but it really was just a case of being parked in the wrong place at the wrong time. ha

Spring hike...

Mick and I recently took a walk at the Outer Point Trail. I love that trail to the beach. It's like walking through a fairyland. Everything is so moss covered right now and the bushes haven't leafed out yet. So cool.

The power of the wind amazes me when I see what it can do to these big trees!

Moss covered trees: beautiful.

Moss growing from the rock layers.

Contrary to popular belief...

I did not fall off the face of the earth. There's just not much excitement going on in our house lately, so... what to blog about?
Well, I got a new Flip video camera. I'm not very impressed with it. Because of it's small size you have to hold really still when using it, and there's not much zoom to it. Other than those two things, it's probably alright for those quick moments, plus it IS small and compact for taking along in a purse or pocket. Good thing it didn't cost too much. I'll keep and use it for an appropriate amount of time, then get a better one.

Due to a beautiful spring-like winter, all my crocuses are in full bloom and there are more than ever before: yellow, purple, lavender and white. They're 2 to 3 weeks ahead of normal bloom time. Happy Spring!

Linen Cabinet

I searched and searched for a linen cabinet for our new bathroom and finally found the one I wanted here. I liked the openness of this one, because I didn't want the bathroom to feel smaller, and also like the display shelves. My amazing son Tim built it the size I wanted. I had him put shelves below instead of all drawers. We don't have the door on, as it was a tad too big once I got it all painted; so Tim will come by and finish that for me soon. I couldn't wait any longer to let you see it though. I can't get far enough away from the cabinet to shoot a full view, but here are some more pix. I'm still playing around with what to put where on the shelves.

I got the blues...

...Pretty Blue
Our new bathroom is 95% complete. Still need to add some electrical wiring and build a cover for the pipe thing on the floor by the back wall. (long story, don't ask) I love it!!! Tim did most of the work, including building the corner cabinet. I'll tell about that in another post. The tub is on the left behind the door, and at the far end of the tub are floor to ceiling deep shelves (across from the linen cabinet). You can never have too much storage!

... Make-me-happy Blue
The cover of my new Oklahoma Today magazine. First issue received. Thank you so much to Sherry and Daddy for this gift! Love it * love it * love it! Not liking the picture of me, though.

...Fun Blue
Twin lakes frozen over. We took the three older grandkids to go sliding around on New Year's eve. It was a blast! Mick got in on the fun, too.

...Icy Blue
January 2 we went out and walked on Mendenhall Lake at the glacier. The ice was well over a foot thick. The glacier chunks in the lake were beautiful.

Even Molly has to earn her keep!
I was going to say more, but it won't quit underlining and I'm just not smart enough to figure out how to make it stop in this blog program. AAAAAAhhhhhhhh!!! over and out
p.s. thanks for the help on pictures Hannah. Any idea on how to solve this problem?

Coming soon...

Hey ya'll,
I'm having technical difficulties with putting new pictures on the blog. Will try to figure out the problem and post some soon.
